The Fulshear Night Readers’ Guild will meet at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library in Fulshear on Monday, Dec. 22, to discuss Mitch Albom’s “Five People You Meet in Heaven.”

In his debut novel, Albom seeks to show how insignificant, chance encounters between people can make a significant impact. The novel begins with the end of Eddie’s life.

An 83-year-old war veteran who works as a maintenance man at a seaside amusement park, Eddie dies trying to save the life of a little girl. After his death, Eddie learns that heaven is the place where one learns the meaning and purpose of one’s life on Earth.

He meets five pivotal figures whose lives were inextricably connected to his own in ways he never suspected. Eddie comes to appreciate the fact that even a seemingly normal and boring life can have true and everlasting value.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. The book club is free and open to the public.

For more information, call the branch at 281-346-1432 or the library’s public information office at 281-341-2677.
