India Exhibit At First Colony Library Throughout January

Visitors to the First Colony Branch Library in Sugar Land can take a virtual tour of India through a January exhibit of books, posters and pictures of India and the Indian culture.

Library patrons can explore the Taj Mahal or study the philosophies of Mohatma Gandhi or the Dalai Lama. They can also learn how to create modern Parsi dishes or read a traditional Hindu folktale.

Additionally, books are available in Hindi and Urdu as well as English. Various Bollywood titles are also on hand for check out.

The library’s nonfiction collection includes books of poetry, cookbooks, biographies and other subjects that are popular selections among the local Indian community.

To browse the collection online, visit the library’s website at www.fortbend.lib.tx.us and select the “catalog” icon. Enter the words “Hindi” or “Urdu” to search for items in those languages.

Library staff members are also available to assist visitors in locating specific selections.
