Roger Stobaugh was murdered in 1997 on Christmas Day after interrupting a burglary at his Houston home. This morning, 11 years later, Rosenberg police arrested a suspect in Stobaugh's shooting.

Javier "Aguedo" Solis was arrested withoutt incident at 9 a.m., a Rosenberg Police Department spokeswoman said. He faces capital murder charges for Stobaugh's death.

According to news accounts, Stobaugh had been away on Christmas in 1997 when he returned to his Houston home on Pinetex Drive to get a crib.

Police were quoted as saying Stobaugh interrupted a burglary in progress, confronted one of the burglars in his back yard and was shot and killed.

At least one other suspect in the case, who was arrested by police, identified Solis as the man who killed Stobaugh. News accounts quoted police as saying other suspects in the burglary believed Solis escaped to Mexico.

In 2006, Harris County's Crime Stopper's organization offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to Solis' arrest and conviction, indicating information had surfaced that Solis may have returned to the Houston area.

But it wasn't until the day after Christmas 2008 that Solis was found.

"Police received tips that Solis had been at a home in Rosenberg, and monitored the home's activity," the Rosenberg police spokeswoman said on Friday. "After carefully watching Solis and his activity, he was arrested without incident Dec. 26."

I think what you will find, Kstroup, is envy, jealousy and all the normal mix of human fallibility, but I have no problem with what you offer. I've known many honorable police and some not so. Let's hope we aren't seeing those few envious whom somehow think name calling is an acceptable practice.

That always seems to be the lowest form of expressed jealousy. There is enough credit to go around on this one. A big well done to all the officers and citizens involved!

You're right, magnificent7. Sharing credit is not controversial.

I think the Fort Bend natives get their feelings hurt when somebody thanks another community, as well as their own. They never saw life outside of their shell so they cannot fathom anything other than small community corruption....

hahaha...I love Calif. libs....the only thing worse is a ft Bend lib.....

It was a joint effort, per the article. However, this media outlet phrases it in a way to make it sound like it was Rosenberg and Rosenberg only who helped in this arrest. If it weren't for the tip from Crime Stoppers (remember Harris County set the reward), it might have been another 11 years, if ever, until this person was caught.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. Sharing credit doesn't seem to be controversial.

That's a pretty bold claim especially when the article says the tip helped lead to the arrest. Law enforcement agencies work together all the time. Why would you be trying to say one is not related to the other when that isn't implied in the article.

Apparently Harris County law enforcement, which make up Crime Stoppers, had a tip *in 2006* that the guy had been in the Houston area.

*Two years later* the guy was caught by Rosenberg PD - in Rosenberg.

Police work often involves following up leads, and I'm sure Rosenberg PD may have gotten a tip that led to this arrest.

But nothing I'm reading leads me to believe Harris County law enforcement necessarily had anything to do with it.

Uh, did I not give credit to the police? Did I not mention they don't get enough pay, respect, etc.? What security blanket? I was mugged Saturday and I didn't cry. You call me Mr. Intelligent and you cannot even spell EGOtistical. BTW, read the article, it was Harris County Crime Stoppers who set the reward. Did I ever say I was not grateful for law enforcement, when they are there and doing their job? I personally think, eyeball, that you are a bitter, lonely person who wants to keep your "eye" on things, not to help, but to make yourself feel better about how you wasted your life behind a computer screen.

All I ever started saying was it was more than Rosenberg PD responsible for the capture. READ BEFORE YOU ATTACK!

There you go again "KStroup"

Do you think for one second that "COPS" work the holidays being away from thier families, sacrifice the big money from the private sector, risk thier life "physically" apprehending these violent criminals for CREDIT from you?

What a igotistical person you are!,......

And if you really want to consider something mr. intelligent,......who cares that the secret caller dialed harris county crime stoppers phone number instead of Fort Bend. The men wearing the blue went and caught him!

Where were you,....oh!,...sitting under that security blanket that was provided for you!,...

Be grateful you jerk!,............

It would only seem to make sense to give joint praise to both agencies. I agree K, good call!

Okaydoo key...

Check your posthandle there good buddy:

November 13 was a very special day indeed! You do know how to still google right?

« KStroup wrote on Friday, Dec 26 at 03:39 PM »
Wow! Really? LHS, with graduate in your handle, I'd assume you to be smarter than that. Rosenberg made the areest 11 years later due to a tip from Harris County Crime Stoppers. Men of the law work hard and don't really get enough credit (pay, respect, etc.). That being said, I don't think Rosenberg should get the sole credit for this one arrest. It was a joint effort that could not have happened without Harris County. I have no idea where you got drug thug from. I don't ever remember writing about one of those losers, nor do I ever remember applauding Rosenberg PD for anything yet.
« LHS_Graduate wrote on Friday, Dec 26 at 03:31 PM »
Sooo, let me get this straight. KStroup only gives applause to Rosenberg Police when they catch a drug thug?
« KStroup wrote on Friday, Dec 26 at 03:25 PM »
Eyeball,

You obviously don't know how the job works. I don't know if you remember the old saying, "It is better to keep your mouth shut than open it and remove all doubt." You just showed Fort Bend county how much, or little, you really do know.
« SugarLand#1 wrote on Friday, Dec 26 at 02:59 PM »
Sounds like the partisan boys are back and feeding the public. Hey, eyeball, I vote yours the most stupid flaming attack, how's that. Why not read what he wrote about the Harris cty part in this?

Keep telling it like it is kstroup!
« fortbendeyeball wrote on Friday, Dec 26 at 01:40 PM »
Hey Kstroup everytime I think I have heard the most idiotic stupid comment from a true moron, well one jumps up and says another!

Yep you got the record, your in the lead now!

Congradulations,......
