Roger Stobaugh was murdered in 1997 on Christmas Day after interrupting a burglary at his Houston home. This morning, 11 years later, Rosenberg police arrested a suspect in Stobaugh's shooting.
Javier "Aguedo" Solis was arrested withoutt incident at 9 a.m., a Rosenberg Police Department spokeswoman said. He faces capital murder charges for Stobaugh's death.
According to news accounts, Stobaugh had been away on Christmas in 1997 when he returned to his Houston home on Pinetex Drive to get a crib.
Police were quoted as saying Stobaugh interrupted a burglary in progress, confronted one of the burglars in his back yard and was shot and killed.
At least one other suspect in the case, who was arrested by police, identified Solis as the man who killed Stobaugh. News accounts quoted police as saying other suspects in the burglary believed Solis escaped to Mexico.
In 2006, Harris County's Crime Stopper's organization offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to Solis' arrest and conviction, indicating information had surfaced that Solis may have returned to the Houston area.
But it wasn't until the day after Christmas 2008 that Solis was found.
"Police received tips that Solis had been at a home in Rosenberg, and monitored the home's activity," the Rosenberg police spokeswoman said on Friday. "After carefully watching Solis and his activity, he was arrested without incident Dec. 26."
That always seems to be the lowest form of expressed jealousy. There is enough credit to go around on this one. A big well done to all the officers and citizens involved!
You're right, magnificent7. Sharing credit is not controversial.
I think the Fort Bend natives get their feelings hurt when somebody thanks another community, as well as their own. They never saw life outside of their shell so they cannot fathom anything other than small community corruption....
hahaha...I love Calif. libs....the only thing worse is a ft Bend lib.....
I think the Fort Bend natives get their feelings hurt when somebody thanks another community, as well as their own. They never saw life outside of their shell so they cannot fathom anything other than small community corruption, except for Cowboybill. He knows the life of a dude ranch as well.
It was a joint effort, per the article. However, this media outlet phrases it in a way to make it sound like it was Rosenberg and Rosenberg only who helped in this arrest. If it weren't for the tip from Crime Stoppers (remember Harris County set the reward), it might have been another 11 years, if ever, until this person was caught.
You're a verbatim kind-of-guy!
*Two years later* the guy was caught by Rosenberg PD - in Rosenberg.
Police work often involves following up leads, and I'm sure Rosenberg PD may have gotten a tip that led to this arrest.
But nothing I'm reading leads me to believe Harris County law enforcement necessarily had anything to do with it.
All I ever started saying was it was more than Rosenberg PD responsible for the capture. READ BEFORE YOU ATTACK!
Do you think for one second that "COPS" work the holidays being away from thier families, sacrifice the big money from the private sector, risk thier life "physically" apprehending these violent criminals for CREDIT from you?
What a igotistical person you are!,......
And if you really want to consider something mr. intelligent,......who cares that the secret caller dialed harris county crime stoppers phone number instead of Fort Bend. The men wearing the blue went and caught him!
Where were you,....oh!,...sitting under that security blanket that was provided for you!,...
Be grateful you jerk!,............
